Under the soldiers, poppies grow
And some soldiers send them home
Guns blow
The soldiers go
The blood-stained grass and the poppies flow
So many died just for war
The poppies grow from the floor
Under the soldiers, poppies grow
And some soldiers send them home
Guns blow
The soldiers go
The blood-stained grass and the poppies flow
So many died just for war
The poppies grow from the floor
In Year 4, we have been learning about poems by John Lyons who lived in Trinidad.
Two of his poems, Carnival Jumbie and Carnival Dance Lesson, were inspired by the annual carnival in Trinidad and Tobago.
We performed these poems using musical instruments and our own actions.
Check out our performances below.
4 Shakespeare will be performing their own original carnival poetry in their sharing assembly this Friday (18.03.2022)
This week in Year 1 we have been reading poems, responding to poems and trying to write our own. Here is a selection of work from Jessie in 1N, Angus in 1N, Archie in 1N, Olivia in 1O and Joris in 1O. Enjoy!
