YEAR 6 RESIDENTIAL (and not forgetting a few year 5s)

We had a fantastic time last week in Wales for the Summer residential.

We abseiled, climbed, canoed, laser tagged, river gorged and zip-lined our way through the week. Here are a few photos to whet your appetites, but all photos and videos will be made available on FRONTER to the parents of those who went in the next few days.

A big THANK YOU to Mrs Moore, Mr O'Neill and Mrs Serban for giving up their time in order to provide this amazing opportunity. Thank you!!

Reading with meaning

In Year 5, we have started Toms Midnight Garden in English.

So to start off the story we were all given an extract from Chapter 1 and asked to read it with different parts or words empathised.

The objective of this was so that we could start to see how when the same text is read in different ways, it can be perceived by the audience differently.

We performed them in front of the rest of the class before lunchtime :)

Year 5 Area and Perimeter

To tie in with our current maths topic, Year 5 were set the task of calculating the area and perimeter of the school field. Then for the next task, we told them to create their own ball game with a court area of 12 meters squared. All the children did very well and there were some excellent examples of teamwork shown

Kensuke's Kingdom: Summarising in Year 5

Kensuke's Kingdom

In Year 5 the children have really enjoyed reading the book 'Kensuke's Kingdom'.

Last week they summarised Chapter 5 of the story, 'I, Kensuke' and created a summarising 'S' with pictures of the key events.

NSPCC NUMBER DAY 2025

Thank you to all who took part in Number Day 2025 last Friday. Everyone who dressed up looked brilliant and I really appreciate the effort everyone made.

The Times Tables competition was fiercely fought by all involved - a big well done to those children for their bravery and excellent times table knowledge. They all received a certificate and a prize for their participation.

A special mention must go to Ayaan from 5 Oliver who was the overall winner of Key Stage 2.

                                                                                 Incredible!

                                                                               You ROCK!!! 😎

We raised a fantastic £291.75 for NSPCC so thank you again for your support.

Year 5 Art - Clay Monkeys

Last week, Year 5 were able to make their clay monkeys. This was part of the topic "South America" and children had spent the previous lessons planning how to make it and watching video tutorials. It seems as though the children had lots of fun and to quote Sahej from Nightingale "It was lots of fun and I learnt how to manipulate the clay to make different body parts".
