Last week Year 4 were treated to an afternoon of digging for worms as part of the Science curriculum. On the school grounds, students worked in teams to excavate a small pit and begin the search!
We learnt how to differentiate between adult and juvenile worms, and found that if we sprinkled mustard powder diluted with water into the pits, we were able to encourage more worms to the surface. Once we had collected some, we brought them back into the classroom to identify the type of worm using a classification key.
What an exciting investigation, well done Year 4!
