Getting the Nursery garden ready for flowers

Last week we were weeding our planters and getting them ready for planting our flowers.

The children helped Mrs Petra pulling only the weeds and not flowers!

Signs of Autumn

We went on an Autumn walk, looking out for signs of Autumn.
The children recorded their findings on their clipboards.

We found fungi, orange leaves, brown leaves, yellow leaves, berries and even a squirrel.

Growing plants

We all planted our beans after reading Jack and the beanstalk.

They were sent home and these are the plants now...

Well done to everyone!

Year 1 Clay Mini Models

Today in Art, Year 1 worked with clay to make mini models.

The topic this half term is Nature Sculpture.

Children learned to differentiate between natural and man made materials.

Working with clay was lots of fun and  using some well known and newly taught techniques, the children learned some new skills to add to their artistic knowledge.

Children chose a natural object to make their clay into using nature pictures as inspiration.

Here are some the finished models...

A strawberry

A flower

A turtle

An owl on a wall

A snail

A hedgehog

A caterpillar on a leaf

A starfish

A butterfly
