History in Year 6

Carrying on from our attendance at the Remembrance Day Service on 11th November at Fairlop.  We have been looking at what it would be like to be evacuated.  The children had to think about what they would take if they were only allowed a small suitcase.

We also looked at some specific events such as Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain.   Here we looked at the planes involved in the 'dogfights' over the English Channel.    Did you know that a pilot who shot down 5 enemy planes was called a fighter ace?

We learnt about Spitfires and the German equivalent the Messerschmitt. Did you know the RAF defeated the Luftwaffe on a ratio of 3:1

We are still studying WW2 after Christmas so look out for further blogs in the Spring term
