 Year 2 triorama for Science.

Year 2 have been learning about habitats in science and this week they explored ocean habitats and what animals use plants for in the ocean . They researched two animals that live in the sea; sea turtles and pufferfish. To display this information Year 2 made triorama with visual and written information. They had a wonderful time making them!

 Year 5 Science experiment

This week we looked at the best material that would make a thermal insulator. We did this by taking increment measurements of water with thermometers as time elapsed. We had to of course make sure that all variables were kept consistent!

Year 2 Hapa Zome

This week in year 2 we continued our investigation into plants and how they grow. We experimented with the Japanese art of hapa zome- printing with plants.

We found that this only works when plants are freshly cut, as without moisture, the plants will not press through to the fabric when pressure is applied.

Plant investigation in year 2

In year 2 this week we have started our investigation into plants and how they grow.

We tried our hand at classifying real plants into different categories (edible/not edible, spiky/not spiky...) and then drew flowers from real life, labelling the roots, stem, flowers and leaves.

What material is best for curtains?

Today in Science we looked at different materials to see which is best for curtains. We used torches to see which were opaque and transparent. We decided that a opaque and soft material was the best.
