Year 2 and Year 5 welcomed Sandra from the London Fire Brigade this week. Sandra is an education officer who spoke to us about how to avoid fires in the home and how to react should we discover one. We learned about how to make an escape plan for our homes, what the Fire Brigade do when they are not attending fires, and that they have just six minutes to get to an emergency! Wow!
The LFB have passed on a link to book a home safety visit here: https://www.london-fire.gov.uk/safety/the-home/book-a-home-fire-safety-visit/ This service is booked by parents/carers to their home and will be carried out either by Firefighters from the closest local fire station or by Community Safety Officers from London Fire Brigade. They will provide fire safety advice to the adults and children in the home and fit smoke alarms where needed. The visits and smoke alarms are completely free of charge. This is not means-tested and is open to everyone, so please do contact them to ensure your home is safe for you and your family.
