Our first local walk

 Our Reception children went on their first local walk. 

As part of our topic, Ourselves and Homes,
the children worked with a partner to identify some of the features of different types of homes.

The children looked at flats, bungalows and houses.

They worked with their partner to record what they had found.

We also took the opportunity to look at a very special building in our community. The fire station opened its doors, so that we could have a look inside.

The children were very excited to see the fire engines and to talk to the firefighters.

We know that the firefighters are very busy, so the children wrote a letter to thank them for their time.

It was a great first outing for the Reception children, and we are proud of how sensible they were.
